LazyByte Labs ("we," "us," or "our") built the Exam Countdown & Study Planner app as an ad-free Freemium app. This SERVICE is provided by LazyByte Labs at no cost with optional premium upgrades, and is intended for use as is.

This page informs you regarding our policies with the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information when you use our Service. If you choose to use our Service, then you agree to the collection and use of information in relation to this policy.

No Advertisements

Our Service is completely ad-free. We do not display any third-party advertisements, and we do not share your data with advertising networks.

Information We Collect and Why

1. Information You Provide Directly

When you use the app, you may create and store the following data locally on your device:

Subjects, chapters, and exam dates — to power your countdown timers and study tracking.
Study notes — created within the app's rich-text notes editor.
To-do tasks — for your personal study to-do list.
User profile — your display name and daily study goal settings.
Focus session history — records of completed study and revision timer sessions.
Streak and goal data — your daily study goals, recovery day settings, and streak history.

This data is stored locally on your device using SharedPreferences and is not transmitted externally unless you opt in to Cloud Sync (see below).

2. Diya AI — AI-Powered Study Companion

Diya AI is a premium feature that provides personalized study insights, quizzes, revision reviews, performance analysis, weekly study plans, and a conversational AI chat interface.

How Diya AI works:

When you use any Diya AI feature, the app sends a text prompt to our secure Firebase Cloud Function backend (generateAiResponse). This prompt contains anonymized, non-personally-identifiable study context derived from your local data — such as subject names, chapter names, progress percentages, exam dates (in relative terms), and total study minutes.
No names, email addresses, or device identifiers are included in AI prompts.
Your AI prompts are routed to either DeepSeek or Google Gemini based on your chosen AI provider setting. Your prompts are subject to the privacy policies of those providers.
Chat history (Diya Chat conversations) is stored locally on your device only and is not persisted to our servers.
AI-generated responses are cached locally for the session and are cleared when you sign out or clear app data.

Note: Diya AI is a premium (AI Pro) feature. Free-tier users are not subject to AI prompt transmission.

3. Cloud Sync & Account Data (Optional — Premium Feature)

Cloud Sync is an optional premium feature. It is not enabled by default.

If you choose to sign in with Google Sign-In and enable Cloud Sync, the following applies:

Account information collected: Your Google display name, email address, and a unique User ID (Firebase UID) are used solely to identify your data in our secure Firestore database.
Data synced to the cloud: All your locally stored study data (subjects, chapters, sessions, notes, to-do items, profile, streak data) is encrypted in transit and stored in Firebase Cloud Firestore under your User ID.
Purpose: To allow you to back up your data and seamlessly restore or access it across multiple devices.
Data control: You can sign out at any time, which stops all syncing. You may contact us to request permanent deletion of your cloud data.
RevenueCat: If you are on Android or iOS, your subscription status is managed via RevenueCat (using your Firebase UID). RevenueCat does not receive your personal study data.

4. Analytics

We use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous, aggregated usage data to understand how the app is used and to improve it. This data helps us identify popular features, diagnose crashes, and make better product decisions.

Analytics events logged include:

Screen views (e.g., which screens you visit)
Feature interactions (e.g., setting a weekly goal, using the focus timer)
App lifecycle events (e.g., app open, session duration)
Anonymous user properties (e.g., whether a user is on the free or premium tier)

Analytics data is:

Anonymized — no study content, subject names, or notes are sent.
Aggregated — used in aggregate, not to track you individually.
Subject to Google's data processing terms.

You may opt out of analytics data collection through your device's platform-level advertising/analytics settings.

5. In-App Purchases

Our Service offers in-app purchases (premium subscriptions and lifetime unlock). All payments are processed securely through:

Google Play Store (Android)
Apple App Store (iOS)
Microsoft Store (Windows)

We do not process, store, or have access to your payment card information. Purchase verification is handled by RevenueCat and the respective app store.

Device Permissions

To provide certain features, the App may request the following permissions on your device. All permissions are used solely for the stated functionality:

| Wakelock | Keep the screen on during active focus timer sessions (optional, based on your settings). |
| Vibration | Haptic feedback for timer completion alerts. |
| File Access (optional) | Used only if you choose to export or import study data from your device's file system. |

Log Data

In the event of an error in the app, we collect diagnostic data via Firebase Crashlytics (if integrated) and Firebase Analytics. This Log Data may include:

Device type and operating system version
App version
Time and date of the error
General diagnostic information about the crash

Log Data does not include your personal study content or notes.

Data Storage and Security

Local Data: All your study data is stored locally on your device using SharedPreferences (key-value storage). This data is isolated to the app's sandboxed storage.
Cloud Data (if opted in): Data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored in Firebase Cloud Firestore, which uses Google's enterprise-grade security infrastructure.
While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your data, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data Retention and Deletion

Local data persists on your device until you clear the app's data, uninstall the app, or use the in-app "Clear All Data" option (if available).
Cloud data persists until you request deletion. To delete your cloud data, sign in to the app, sign out (which triggers a final upload), and then contact us at the email below to request permanent deletion of your Firestore records.
Analytics data is retained by Google Firebase per their standard retention policies (typically 14 months).

Cookies

This Service does not use browser-based cookies. However, third-party SDKs embedded in the app (such as Firebase) may use similar session-tracking technologies to maintain functionality and improve services.

This Service does not knowingly address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will immediately delete it. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

This Service may contain links to external websites (e.g., Google Gemini, ChatGPT). These external sites are not operated by us. We strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of any third-party site you visit. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content or privacy practices of any third-party sites or services.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you.
Correct inaccurate personal data.
Delete your personal data (see "Data Retention and Deletion" above).
Opt out of analytics data collection via your device settings.
